Now that you know how to create a Report Dashboard, and are keeping an eye on your KPIs, it's time to take some action. Using what you've learned from your Report Dashboards, you can leverage Automate to get timely Alerts and create Rules that will automatically optimize your accounts, even if you are away from your computer.

The following will introduce you to Alerts and Rules:

Alerts

Alerts are performance-based tasks that will send you an email when KPIs have met, not met, or exceeded your desired value.

The Benefit: In knowing that you can never be in the front of any particular ad account the entire day, creating Alerts allows you to get emails when certain parameters are met. Stay connected to your accounts to make any necessary changes before it's too late.

You can run alerts so that we look at the account, campaign, ad set/group, ads, and keyword level metrics. For each, we will look at them independently. (Ex: If 5 ad groups are selected and 1 ad group meets the performance threshold set, then it will trigger (qualifying ad group) the alert and be listed in the email digest.)

Creating an Alert -

Step 1: Select a Level entity
                  - Account, Campaign, Ad Group/Set, Ads, Keywords
         Step 2: Select a Network(s)
                  - Dive deeper into a Level entity (ex: select campaigns)
         Step 3: Alert when (IF)
                  - Select a KPI/parameter to meet (ex: 1,000 clicks)
         Step 4: Schedule your task
Step 5: Name the Alert & Add emails recipients
Step 6: Launch ( or Preview)

Example: Alert me when my new campaign reaches 1,000 clicks

Rules

Rules are performance-based tasks that make predefined changes to your advertising when KPIs have met, not met, or exceeded your desired value.

The Benefit: By knowing the key performance indicators (KPIs) of your accounts, you can plan ahead. When certain parameters are met, you can now create rules that will take action on your behalf. You are essentially optimizing your accounts automatically. Also, this makes rules perfect for those pesky, mundane daily tasks we all hate.

Options include pause, enable, increase and decrease budgets and bids. You can create rules for campaigns, ad set/group, ads, and keyword level metrics and for each, we will look them independently of each other. (E.g. If 5 ad groups are selected, and 1 ad group meets the performance threshold set, then it will trigger the rule and only 1 ad group will be changed to the predefined action.)

Creating a Rule -

Step 1: Select a Level entity
                  - Account, Campaign, Ad Group/Set, Ads, Keywords
          Step 2: Select a Network(s)
                  - Dive deeper into a Level entity (ex: select campaigns)
          Step 3: IF
                  - Select a KPI/parameter to meet (ex: Conversions > 20, CTR > 10%)
          Step 4: Then
                  - Select an action to be taken to be made (ex: increase budget by %)
          Step 5: Schedule your task
Step 6: Name the Alert & Add emails recipients
                  - Select a Notification type (ex: Run & Email Results)
                          - Click Here for more Info on Notification types
Step 7: Launch ( or Preview)

Example: Increase my campaign budget 20% IF, Conversions > 20 & CTR > 10%
